The Seamless Co-op mod lets players play Elden Ring with friends

Co-op in Elden Ring feels like an aspect of FromSoft’s formula that doesn’t adequately adapt to its new open-world setting. While some players are playing, the tangle of items, disconnects, and restrictions is enough to make them raise their hands and ignore online play entirely. Although players have prepared a lot of Elden Ring Runes for a better experience, it’s still not perfect.

Veteran Souls series modder Luke Yui (Blue Sentinel, Sekiro Online) created his own alternative, Seamless Co-op, which just launched in public beta. It’s like black magic, convenient, seamless co-op play, with relatively few early downsides, and doesn’t affect players’ previous save or launch account states.

But shockingly, LukeYui has no professional experience in networking or IT. Perhaps the greatest flexibility many players hear at work, he says reverse engineering and redesigning the online features of these games is “just a hobby.” Having said that, the success and reliability of his previous projects speak for themselves, and Seamless Co-op has a professional level of care and craftsmanship. Given what it has accomplished, getting Seamless Co-op to work is pretty easy.

Players just need to download the mod files from Elden Ring Nexus and put them into your installation directory, which defaults to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Elden Ring/Game. Then open the .ini file “cooppassword” in the “SeamlessCoop” folder and set your preferred password after the “cooppassword=” line. Finally, get your collaborators to set the same password on their install, then use the mod’s custom items to open your game to the password partner or join theirs. This mod will connect your world easily. If players want to have fun, they can also buy Elden Ring Runes at IGGM to strengthen themselves!
