Did you find it? Almost every generation of Pokémon games features pseudo-clones of the famous mascot Pikachu, most of which are fairly obvious imitations. Pikachu itself and its pre-evolved Pichus played this role in Generations 1 and 2, but in each region after that, different small electric rodents were commonplace on players' journeys to become Pokémon masters. They are all part of the same family.

Pikachu has always been the face of the Pokémon franchise. Whether it's games or anime, Pikachu has a place in almost all Pokémon media. Although another beloved Pokémon, Eevee, has played a similar role in recent years, Pikachu remains practically synonymous with the Pokémon franchise, and no matter how many clones are introduced, Pikachu may never change. Pikachu clones all meet several criteria: they are mostly Electric-type, have a similar small size, are modeled after a different rodent or similar small mammal, and have rounded cheeks where they generate or manipulate electricity shaped spots.

Pokémon Gen 3'S Plusle Minun share the title of Hoenn's Pikachu clone

The Hoenn region in Gen 3 can be considered the first region to have a true Pikachu clone. Plusle and Minun, known as "Cheer Pokémon," are two distinct but very similar bunny-like electric types that collect power in the form of pom-poms to fuel other Pokémon in battle. While bunnies aren't actually rodents, Plusle and Minun still seem to be taking on the roles of their Pikachu counterparts in their hometown.

Hoenn has few other Pokémon that can be part of the Pikachu family. Zigzagoon and Lioone are Hoenn's normal rodent Pokémon, though they're based on raccoons and ferrets -- which aren't rodents either -- rather than electric types. Electrike and Manectric are similarly sized but canine-based Electric Pokémon. The Hoenn area is one of the best for Pokémon, introducing many popular mechanics and Pokémon species, and while Plusle and Minun aren't the strongest or most famous of them all, they still help set the frame for future members of the Pikachu family.

Pachirisu is Gen 4's Sinnoh Pikachu clone Pokémon

Pachirisu is a Pikachu clone from the Sinnoh region of Pokémon Generation 4. It's based on a squirrel, as evidenced by its long bushy tail, and while it's more differentiated from Pikachu than Plusle and Minun, it's still electric and has the archetypal round cheeks. Pachirisu, like Pikachu, is one of those Pokémon that players can walk around in the friendly plazas of the original Diamonds and Pearls, and it also appears in the remake of Diamonds and Sparkling Pearls. It's called "EleSquirrel Pokémon," and it's clearly linked to Pikachu in the Pokédex entry for the latest game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Unfortunately, Pachirisu is one of the underrated monsters in Pokémon BDSP and is often overlooked by the likes of Garchomp and Luxray.

Sinnoh doesn't have many other Pikachu clone candidates besides Pachirisu. It has beaver-like rodents Bidoof and Bibarel, common rodents from the Sinnoh region, and rabbits Buneary and Lopunny, but all four have no electrical abilities to speak of. Rotom is an Electric/Ghost-type Pokémon somewhat similar in size to the Pachirisu and Pikachu families, but it's not even a mammal, but rather based on plasma and various electronics.

Unova's Emolga is a Gen 5 Pikachu clone Pokémon

Based on flying squirrels, Emolga is a 5th generation Unova region clone of Pikachu. It's more similar to Pachirisu than Pikachu -- understandably, since they were inspired by related species -- but it's undeniably the region's quintessential electric rodent. It's called "Sky Squirrel Pokémon", and it is an electric/flying dual-type, almost unused Pokémon type combination, the first of the Pikachu clone family.

There aren't many Pokémon in Unova that resemble Emolga and the rest of the Pikachu family. Patrat is based on a rodent - the chipmunk - but has the designation of the normal rodent in the area and is a pure normal type. Electric Joltik is one of the smallest Pokémon in the series, but it and its evolution Galvantula are based on arachnids rather than rodents.

Dedenne is the 6'S Kalos' Pikachu clone Pokémon

Dedenne is the counterpart of the 6th generation Pikachu in the Kalos region. It looks similar to a hamster or gerbil, and unlike most Pikachu clones, it has tentacles on its cheeks. Like Emolga, it's a dual type that, in addition to its main Electric, also has the somewhat overpowering fairy type that Pokémon introduced in Gen 6. It's called the "Telephoto Pokémon," and unlike most of the Pikachu family, it steals electricity from an outside source rather than generating it itself, using its cheeks and antenna to communicate with others of its kind via airwaves.

The other candidates for Kalos' Pikachu area opponents don't quite match Dedenne. Bunnelby is the common rodent of Kalos, although it is a rabbit that evolved into a common/ground excavator and lacks the electric type. Helioptile is an electric/normal type that evolved into Heliolisk, sharing its type, but both based on reptiles rather than rodents.

Alola has almost multiple Pikachu clone Pokémon in Gen 7

Togedemaru is one of those weird Pikachu-based Pokémon, but it's still an electric rodent from the 7th generation Alola region. It's an electric/steel type based on a hedgehog - another species not actually considered a rodent - known as the "Roly-Poly Pokémon". The odd placement of the tail-like needle on its back may seem odd and counterintuitive, but it's actually designed to attract lightning strikes to generate electricity, since its natural ability to generate electricity is rather weak. The triangular markings on its body are burrs that extend when it is provoked.

Of all the regions, Alola probably has the most viable Pikachu clone candidate. In addition to Togedemaru, there is Raichu in Alolan form, not technically a clone, but only because it actually evolved from Pikachu. There's also Mimikyu, a ghost/fairy type that deliberately replicates Pikachu and is probably the most iconic Pokémon of Gen 7. It may not be an electric mouse, but it can be considered a member of the Pikachu family because of its camouflage.

Morpeko is the most aggressive Pikachu clone of the Pokémon Gen 8'S Galar

Morpeko is the Galar region's clone of Pikachu, the 8th generation of Pokémon. It's based on a hamster and looks more like Pikachu than the last few clones before it. Its similar color and size make it probably the one that most resembles the original Pikachu, but only in its satiety mode. In Hunger Mode, it turns a strong purple color and becomes extremely aggressive, hence the name "Double-Faced Pokémon". It holds precious berry seeds in its cheek pockets, ready to eat as its permanent power generation causes it to be constantly hungry, a unique electric/dark type combination among Pokémon. Aside from Morpeko, few other Pokémon come close to mimicking Pikachu in Galar. Pawmi is a Pokémon that debuted in the second trailer for Scarlet and Violet, the latest in a long line of Pikachu clones. Both cheeks and claws have power-generating organs, and pure electric Pokémon collect electricity by rubbing their cheeks. It's definitely a rodent, but it's unclear which; it looks like it could be a chinchilla, or its relative, the viscacha, although the official website calls it an "electric mouse." The area of ​​Pokémon Scarlet Violet has similarities to Spain, so it could also be the alpine marmot, a species native to the Pyrenees on the French/Spanish border. Very few Pokémon have been confirmed as Scarlet and Violet, so Gen 9 may have more Pikachu clones that haven't been revealed yet.
