Documents Checklist For Iceland Schengen Visa

A Schengen visa offers applicants to enter, freely travel within, and leave the Schengen Area from any Schengen member state for up to 90 days within 180 days.

Since 2001, Iceland has been a member of the Schengen region. Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, and people plan to visit because of the fascinating tourist points.

The same visa application procedure has to be followed for the Iceland Schengen visa. The process is closer to being approved as soon as the applicant submits the visa application. Applicants apply from more than 100 countries every year for a Schengen visa. However, only a few make it to the final stage of obtaining a visa. And to obtain a visa, you must book your Schengen visa dummy ticket in advance to avoid cancellation of visa or holding.

Guide For Documents Necessary For Applying For A Schengen Visa:

The necessary documents are different for applicants if they are nationals of EU member states, and for non-EU citizens, they are also different.

National Of The Eu / Eea Member States:

You will only need a valid identification document to enter Iceland.

Non-Eu/Eea Citizen Wishing To Visit Iceland:

You will need to present the following at the Icelandic port:

A valid passport that is at most three months beyond your planned exit date from Schengen and issued within the last ten years.

Other supporting documents required for the Iceland application process consist of a cover letter by an Icelandic host, proof you have the financial means for a trip to Iceland or a round-trip ticket, proof of accommodation, and a dummy flight ticket. Also, the Icelandic border officer will ask you to present the documents listed above at the Iceland port of entry.

The officer may also ask the applicant questions about the trip to Iceland. Many visa applicants need clarification at this stage. However, they must answer confidently as it leaves a bad impression on the visa officer. The commonly asked questions are:

  • What is your purpose for visiting Iceland?
  • How long are you willing to stay in Iceland?
  • Where are you going to stay in Iceland?
  • Is there someone in your family already living in Iceland?

Upon checking your documents, the border officer will decide if you can enter Iceland. Please ensure the Icelandic border officer stamps your passport when you enter Iceland. You could be fined or detained if there is no stamp on the passport.

To reach this final stage, the applicant has to meet several criteria to get a Schengen Visa to Iceland.
